Story

Get to Know Me

I started my journey to create mental health journals after being diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder and chronic depression. Having gone through the journey myself, I understand the struggles that come with coping with mental illness, and that’s why I created mental health journals that can serve as a guide and support to those who are dealing with mental health challenges.

I've struggled with my mental health throughout my childhood unaware of the impact it would have on my health later in life. During the pandemic my health took a sharp decline affecting me mentally and physically. In 2021 I started my first year of university pursuing a degree in Fine arts and Multimedia, however because my health was deteriorating drastically without the proper mental health care, I had to stop my studies because It became impossible to hold a pen in my hand without shaking.

For me, the importance of mental health care cannot be overstated. It was only later that year when I was hospitalized for three weeks that I began to realize just how important it is for mental health care to be made accessible to everyone. I was admitted to Akeso for that 3 weeks where I received the right mental health care. I got the right dosage of antidepressants and therapy. During this time I understood the importance of getting professional help for mental health management. Receiving the right mental health care and being educated on how to take care of my mental health has impacted my life greatly.

After my recovery, I started my business and I began creating these journals as a tool to help others who are going through similar experiences. Having hand illustrated my first Wellness planner in 2022 after noting being able to hold a pen in my hand, I also received my certification in Therapeutic Art coaching which has helped me incorporate healing through art in my work. This is a testament that right mental health care can make a world of difference in someone's life.

If we are given the access to the right mental health resources and care, it can empower us to move beyond our struggles. Of course, not everyone has been given the privilege that I have, which is why I’ve started this business where I've created a range of journals to help people manage their mental health and stay on track during their recovery journey.
